MediaFire File Hosting Lost My Files!!!

Mediafire.com is a popular file hosting service that I was using to store some of my music mix files. And 5 of those files have gone missing. How can a service whose business is to host files, lose those files?!?! I am incredulous and very upset especially after not receiving a response from them after at least 4 separate emails about the issue.

Now obviously I'm upset, but I still feel compelled to trash mediafire here. This is a warning to people considering the service. Hopefully this never happens to any of your data.

I'm floored at how difficult it is to find a free online file hosting service that's simple and works well. I went though at least 6 of them and finding out each time that the file upload function was broken, or that uploaded files were inaccessible, or that there was a broken link in a file manager. Obviously these people haven't read Don't Make Me Think regarding web usability!!! That, in fact, is my new criteria for judging a new site that I find. How little do I have to think to get the obvious things done. More often than not, most services fail. I'm starting to have a real appreciation for products like gmail.com and del.icio.us.
