More Fuel for the DSL Fire
For quite a few years, I've thought power of custom languages will be the future of software development. And there's gathering momentum for this view as well. I first read of the idea of Language Oriented Programming in this article by JetBrains dude, Sergey Dmitriev. I can say that DSLs are already a powerful tool in my tool chest. "BKeeping", my first DSL, is rather Lisp-like or Lisp-y if you like (sorry).
Well Charles Simonyi (of Microsoft fame) seems to be doing this with his "Meta" style of programming, or "Intentional Programming (or Software)", as he calls it. It's described here in this MIT Technology Review article. Although, the article takes a while to actually get to the ideas Charles is working on, DSLs are eventually discussed ( see "Intentional Programming Explained" ).
